Posbrook Lane Area
Rural lane running south from the village to Titchfield Haven nature reserve, through farmland with scattered period properties.
The Posbrook Lane area extends south from the village centre towards Meon Shore and the coast. Posbrook Lane itself is a narrow country lane that runs from the southern edge of the village down to the marshes and nature reserve at Titchfield Haven. This is the part of Titchfield where the village meets the countryside and, ultimately, the Solent shore. The lane passes through agricultural land with hedgerows, fields, and scattered farmsteads. There are a few houses along the lane, some of them substantial period properties set in large gardens. The character is rural rather than suburban. At the southern end, the lane reaches the area around Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve, where the River Meon meets the sea. The reserve is managed by Hampshire County Council and is one of the most important wetland habitats on the south coast, home to a wide range of wading birds and wildfowl throughout the year. The visitor centre and bird hides are accessed from the southern end of the area. The Posbrook Lane area is popular with walkers and birdwatchers, and the paths that connect through to Meon Shore and Hill Head provide some of the finest coastal and riverside walking in the Fareham borough. The area has no shops or services of its own; it is entirely rural in character. Property along Posbrook Lane is scarce and tends to command high prices, reflecting the combination of rural setting, proximity to the nature reserve, and the short distance to the village centre.
