Titchfield Common

Post-war residential area east of the village with family housing, green spaces, and a quieter suburban character.

Titchfield Common is a residential area to the east and south-east of the village centre, developed mainly in the second half of the twentieth century. The name refers to the former common land that once extended across this part of the parish before enclosure and subsequent building. The area is characterised by post-war housing estates, with semi-detached and detached houses set along curving roads with front and back gardens. Common Lane runs through the area and provides the main access route. The housing stock is typical of its period: brick-built, with garages, and set back from the road behind small front gardens. There is limited commercial provision within the common itself; residents rely on the village centre or Locks Heath Shopping Village for shopping. Titchfield Common has a suburban character that contrasts with the historic village centre, but it is a settled and family-friendly area with a strong sense of community. The common retains some areas of green space and there are footpaths connecting through to the surrounding countryside. Heath Road crosses the area and links to the routes heading towards Locks Heath and Warsash. The area falls within the catchment of Titchfield Primary School for younger children. Property prices on Titchfield Common tend to be slightly lower than in the village centre, where period properties command a premium, making it attractive to families seeking space and a garden without the price tag of a historic cottage.
