Parking in Titchfield

Where to park in the village and at local attractions

Parking in Titchfield village is limited, reflecting its historic layout and compact centre. There is a small public car park off South Street that provides the main off-street parking for the village centre. Spaces are limited and can fill quickly, particularly at weekends, during events, and on fine days when visitors are attracted to the village and the surrounding walks.

On-street parking is available along parts of South Street and the surrounding streets, but this is also limited and residents' parking takes up much of the available kerb space. There are no parking meters or pay-and-display machines in the village centre.

For visitors to Titchfield Abbey, there is a small car park at the English Heritage site on Mill Lane. This is free to use and provides the most convenient parking for the abbey ruins. The car park is small and can fill at busy times, particularly during summer weekends and school holidays.

Titchfield Haven nature reserve has its own car park at the visitor centre on Cliff Road, Hill Head. A charge applies, and the car park can be busy during peak birdwatching seasons and at weekends.

During the Titchfield Carnival and other major village events, temporary parking arrangements are put in place, with additional fields and spaces opened to accommodate the increased number of visitors. These arrangements are publicised in advance through the carnival committee and local notices.

For residents, parking is generally managed through on-street spaces near their homes and private driveways. The streets in the village centre are narrow, and double parking or inconsiderate parking can cause difficulties for other road users and for emergency vehicles. The parish council has addressed parking issues periodically, and residents are encouraged to park considerately.
