St Peter's Church

Heritage, Titchfield

St Peter's Church is the Anglican parish church of Titchfield and one of the oldest places of worship in Hampshire. The church has Saxon origins, and significant pre-Conquest fabric survives in the nave and the western porch, which features Saxon stonework and carving. The building was enlarged during the medieval period with additions including the chancel, tower, and side aisles. The church contains notable monuments, including the Wriothesley monument commemorating the 1st Earl of Southampton and his family. The building is Grade I listed. Regular services are held, and the church is open to visitors. The churchyard contains gravestones from the eighteenth century onwards and provides a quiet green space within the village. St Peter's is both a working church and a building of national architectural importance.
